Waste your hard-earned cash on a politician:
What the fuck is this goofy ass face thing I see stuck up around Philly?
Banjax The Balaclava was born October 19th, 2019 as an anthropomorphized balaclava with a traffic cone on their head. They were first drawn on a USPS Postal Label 228 stuck onto a discarded and abused Philadelphia Gay News honor box at the corner of East Montgomery and Girard Avenue on October 19th, 2019. Subsequent appearances on the lamp posts, street signs, and orange construction barriers in Philadelphia followed in the wake of the lockdowns of the pandemic.
Since then, Banjax has appeared thousands of times throughout the city keeping a watchful and benevolent eye over the residents of Philadelphia. Often adorned with multiple colorful iterations of their signature cone, they regularly made appearances at Tattooed Mom and other venues that attract n'er-do-wells, misfists, anarchists, and sticker artists. You may know them by the name Banjax, Banj, Big Booty Banj, and Cone-Man (despite being gender neutral.)
So what does Banjax stand for? And why are they running for office?
Banjax is an anarchist.
Banjax believes in the power of people determine their own prosperity, survival, happiness, and human flourishing despite the harsh and unrelenting gaze of time, the assaults of so-called "progress", and the tyranny of the state and the free market.
Banjax is aware (and relishes) of the contradiction of being an anarchist and running for elected office.
Banjax is running for this position to obtain a six-figure salary, city-designated free healthcare, and a cushy pension.
Banjax is aware that promises made by politicians are often hollow and made at a point of connivence to ameliorate deep seeded distrust of government and centuries of fuckshit by local, state, and federal agencies. As such, Banjax is no different than any other individual placed into power and will turn their back on you as soon as they are elected. Banjax will break (and yet in a way- keep) every promise they make to you.
Banjax encourages you to vote for them. But also: Don't.
Banjax contains conflicting multitudes that are constantly being navigated in the public, private, and personal spheres while trying to pay the PECO bill, take out the trash, call their mom, love others and be loved, and maybe have a nice treat at the end of the workweek.
Banjax is a product of their environment.
Banjax is a product of Philadelphia.
Banjax is you.
